Sherpa is named after the Himalayan people, known for their ability to carry heavy loads in wet and cold conditions.

In 1952, Sherpa Tenzing was first to reach the summit of Mt Everest with Sir Edmund Hillary. The Sherpa symbol represents a stylised handle.
