AUSTRALIAN PACKAGING COVENANT

As a leading Australasian forest products company, with a commitment to achieving best-practice environmental standards across all our businesses, Carter Holt Harvey fully endorses the aims and principles of the Australian Packaging Covenant.

We became a signatory to the Australian Packaging Covenant on 26 May 2000, and have contributed to the Transitional Fund set up under the Covenant to foster research into improving recycling capabilities.

The Covenant establishes a framework for effective management of the packaging lifecycle – from design and production to utilisation and ultimate disposal – in a way that minimises adverse environmental effects at each stage of the lifecycle.

The Covenant advocates a collaborative approach between all participants in the packaging supply chain, including raw material suppliers, designers, packaging manufacturers and packaging users as well as consumers and Government. As a large, vertically integrated business we recognise the important role we play in helping to achieve the Covenant’s objectives.
